Applications

Applications are open from 8 October 2019 to 8 January 2020. To process your application, you must complete the online form in the application page, following the guidelines provided.

Applicants can be young scientists beginning their careers in the field of astrocytes or senior scientists wishing to refresh their glial background.

Registration is limited to 35 participants. Applicants will be selected on the basis of their scientific background and relevance of the course in their current research.

The registration fee is 1260 EUR. This amount covers:

  • Tuition fee and accompanying materials.
  • Lodging at the school venue for 6 nights (from 22 to 28 March 2020), including breakfast. Students will be assigned double rooms (two beds) and the matching will be based on gender and age. A limited number of single rooms are available for adequately justified cases (accepted students should contact the Organisers for additional information, including the extra fee).
  • Full board, from Sunday 22 March to Saturday 28 March. This covers all normal meals and coffee break refreshments (including the welcome dinner on Sunday, the social dinner on Wednesday, and the farewell dinner on Friday).
  • A half-day trip to Ravenna (including transportation and guided tours).

In addition, the Organisers will provide bus services on the arrival and departure days, between Forlì train station (and/or Bologna airport) and the School venue, trying to cover as many students as possible. This is a courtesy service and individual transportation cannot be guaranteed.

Travel awards

Depending on final sponsorship levels and budget constraints, the Organisers will provide travel awards. Accepted students who wish to be considered for this support should contact the Organisers; priority will be given to students originating from geographically distant institutions.

Cultural activities

To complement the intensive scientific programme, a half day has been assigned to cultural activities. Participating students will be taken to Ravenna, home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, where guided tours will be offered. The excursion will be concluded with a dinner party at a local restaurant with regional specialities of Ravenna and Emilia-Romagna, before returning to Bertinoro.
